Workshops Explore Nontraditional Careers

Pennsylvania College of Technology is reaching out to individuals interested in exploring nontraditional careers.
Through the College's New Choices/New Options and Women in Technologies Trades programming, two individual workshop series are being offered one during the day and the other in the evening. The first will meet Mondays through Fridays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Nov. 2 through Nov. 25. The second is being held from Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 6 to 9 p.m., Nov. 3 to Dec. 10 (there will be no meeting on Thanksgiving, Thursday, Nov. 26).
The workshops will help participants explore the options available today in technology fields, which can provide high salaries and great opportunities. Participants will take a career assessment/inventory to help identify interests, values and abilities. They also will be given opportunities to participate in hands-on activities in such fields as construction; electronics; robotics; heating, ventilation and air-conditioning, and more.
Classroom work will explore various options, discuss the pros and cons of working in nontraditional careers (careers which are mainly performed by members of the opposite sex), and provide insights into successfully overcoming barriers.
