Barbara Albert's career working in early childhood began while she was studying psychology at Bucknell University when she worked as a tutor for Head Start children. After receiving her master's degree in Human Development and Family Studies from the Pennsylvania State University, she taught preschool and kindergarten. In 1994, she became a Group Leader at the Children's Learning Center. She began as a teacher of preschool children and then spent eight years teaching the kindergarten at PCT followed by two and a half years as a toddler teacher. In 2001, she received the Child Care Teacher Recognition Award from the Terri Lynne Lockoff Child Care Foundation In 2008, she joined the Early Childhood program as Program Specialist. She became the Director of the Children's Learning Center in July 2013. She is also an adjunct instructor in the Early Childhood program.

Darlene Warner
Darlene Warner

Darlene Warner holds an associate's degree in computer science from Penn College and had 7 years experience in various clerical positions, including the Boys Scouts of America office in Williamsport, before she joined the Children's Learning Center in August 2005. Darlene lives in South Williamsport with her husband Dan (also a Penn College employee). She has two grown sons.

Rebecca Anne Horn

A 1994 graduate of Penn College with an Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education, Beckie worked as an assistant at the Children's Learning Center for 1 ½ years before leaving for a full-time position as a Head Start teacher, a job she held for three years. In August 1999, we welcomed her back as Group Leader in the Bird's preschool classroom. In August 2009, she made a lateral move to be the Group Leader in the Bunnies' older toddler classroom. Beckie lives in Watsontown with her husband of 40 years. She has five grown children and 8 grandchildren.

Neva Simcox

Group Leader

Neva joined our Center in August 2011. She has a bachelor's degree in child development from California State University in Northridge. In California, she worked as an early intervention teacher and director of education at Smart Start preschool in Santa Monica. After relocating to Pennsylvania, she spent six years at the Infant Development Program in Lock Haven. Neva lives in Jersey Shore with her husband Sean and two daughters.

Sonya Kellogg
Sonya Kellogg

Assistant Group Leader

Sonya joined our Center when the toddler room opened in January 2000. Married with two grown daughters and a son. Sonya operated a home daycare for 10 years before deciding to further her education in Early Childhood Education at Penn College. In 2004, she received her A.A.S. She is currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program.

Linda Dellaquila
Linda Dellaquila

Group Leader

Linda joined our staff as a full-time substitute teacher a year before accepting a permanent position as Group Leader of the Bees in September 2013. She moved into a new position as Group Leader of the Birds, our older preschool group, in Fall 2014. Linda holds a B. S. in Elementary Education, is certified as a Reading Specialist, and has earned a Child Development Associate credential. Her work in Early Childhood Education spans more than twenty years, including teaching experience in both kindergarten and second grade. She also worked for three years as a Reading Specialist with I.U.9.

Sandra Hollingsworth
Sandra Hollingsworth

Assistant Group Leader

Sandy spends one day a week in each classroom as our "floater." Sandy is a graduate of Penn College with an A.A.S. in Early Childhood Education and also holds a B.S. in Home Economics from Carson-Newman College in Tennessee. She has been working at the Children's Center since 1999, when she was still a student. Sandy lives in Muncy with her husband Ed, who teaches in the Industrial and Engineering Technology department at Penn College. Her three grown children live in Newville and Duncannon, Pennsylvania, and in Glen Burnie, Maryland. She has two granddaughters.

Joyce Shrimp
Joyce Shrimp

Group Leader

Joyce is a graduate of Lock Haven University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. She has maintained Pennsylvania teaching certification. In the past she has taught in private and public schools. The ages have ranged from toddler to sixth grade. She began working at the center in January of 2002. Joyce lives in Watsontown with her husband. She has three adult sons, one daughter-in-law, two granddaughters and two grandsons. She enjoys family events, gardening and reading.

Michelle Cowher
Michelle Cowher

Assistant Group Leader

Michelle joined our staff in September 2014 as assistant group leader of the Bees. She is a graduate of Bloomsburg University with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. Michelle was hired as a substitute at the Center in 2008. Her prior experiences included home based early intervention and teaching at a private preschool in Lewisburg for 21 years. She lives in the Turbotville area with her son, Benjamin and her husband, Chip.

Karen Fischer
Karen Fischer

Center Aide

Karen is a lifelong resident of Williamsport who attended Lycoming College majoring in accounting. She worked in various positions before coming to Penn College Dining Services in 2007. She was hired as the center aide in 2010. She is married to her husband, Gary, and they have one grown daughter.

Amanda Martz
Amanda Martz

Assistant Group Leader

Amanda joined our center in October 2016. She is a 2011 graduate of Penn College with an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. Immediately after graduation, Amanda moved back home to Danville where she began her Early Childhood career working with many age groups from infants to school aged children for the next five years. In the summer of 2016, she moved back to Lycoming County. She was very excited to join the staff of the classroom where she completed her student teaching. Amanda is currently looking to continue her education in the fall of 2017.

Valerie Vonada
Valerie Vonada

Assistant Group Leader

Valerie is a 2014 graduate of Penn College with an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. Following graduation, she worked at the Children’s Learning Center at HortWoods located on the Penn State main campus. She has also worked at the Infant Development Center in Lock Haven as a communications teacher. Valerie joined the staff of the Children’s Learning Center in August, 2017. She lives in Clinton County with her husband and son.
