Program Educational Objectives
Program Educational Objectives describe the career and professional accomplishments that graduates, after several years of experience , are prepared to achieve.
- Technical Proficiency - Graduates will have established successful careers applying their expertise in electronics and computer engineering technology to design, develop, and implement systems, circuits, and processes. They will be recognized for using specifications and data analysis to solve complex technical problems and for contributing to the advancement of engineering solutions within their organizations.
- Interpersonal Effectiveness - Graduates will have demonstrated the ability to work effectively in collaborative, multidisciplinary team environments. They will be known for their clear and professional communication skills, enabling them to interact productively with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.
- Professional Growth and Ethics - Graduates will exhibit a sustained commitment to professional and personal development, pursuing advanced roles, certifications, or continuing education. They will be recognized for their strong work ethic and for conducting themselves with integrity and ethical responsibility in professional settings.
- Awareness of Societal Impact - Graduates will integrate awareness of global, societal, and environmental impacts into their engineering decisions. They will contribute to inclusive and diverse workplaces and promote solutions that reflect an understanding of the broader implications of technology in a global community.
Program Goals
A graduate of this major should be able to:
- Apply principles of circuit design and analysis of analog, digital, microprocessor-based, and networked systems.
- Use appropriate interpersonal, verbal, and written communications and information literacy skills to work independently and cooperatively within an organization to promote the goals and objectives of a team, division, or company.
- Demonstrate a cooperative and responsible attitude; respect cultural diversity and ethical behavior.
- Utilize information literacy and technology resources in continuous, independent learning throughout his or her career.
- Apply advanced mathematical skills to solve problems involved with the design and implementation of analog and digital signal processing systems.
- Apply industry-accepted principles in the design and manufacture of electronic circuits and systems.
- Use current project management processes to supervise the design, implementation, and quality control of electronic systems.
Student Outcomes
A graduate of this major should be able to:
- Apply knowledge, techniques, skills and modern tools of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to solve broadly defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline.
- Design systems, components, or processes, meeting specific needs for broadly defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline.
- Apply written, oral, and graphical communication in broadly defined technical and non-technical environments; and an ability to use appropriate technical literature.
- Conduct standard tests, measurements, and experiments and analyze and interpret results to improves processes.
- Function effectively as a member as well as a leader on technical teams.
