Before your first day
Following are things you can do to make your first day run smoothly.
Sign & Return Appointment Letter
Regular part-time and full-time employees will receive an appointment letter via email. Depending on your position, you may also receive the following:
- Conditions of Employment
- Background Check
Complete Employment Eligibility Verification
You will receive an email with instructions to complete your new hire paperwork online. Paperwork will need to be completed before your first day of work. In addition, before your first day, People & Culture will need to verify your identification and eligibility to work documentation in person. You can do this by bringing your documents to People & Culture, Davie Jane Gilmour Center, Room 2011. This is a federal requirement for all employees and you will not be able to start work until this step is complete. Please see the list of acceptable documents.
If you are a remote employee or will be relocating to the area, you will receive additional instructions.
Obtain College ID
When you bring your identification and work authorization documents to People & Culture, you will be given an authorization form to obtain your Staff/Faculty Photo ID Card. After 48 hours of receiving your form, it may be taken to the Information Technology Services Staff located in the Lifelong Education Center (LEC) Room B1032 to get your Penn College ID card.
Please note: Regular part-time and full-time new hires do not need to complete this step independently. These employees will attend New Hire Orientation on their first day, during which the Staff/Faculty photo ID card process will be completed as part of the orientation.
Purchasing Parking Permit
To purchase your parking permit visit the Penn College Police Office at Penn’s Loft, 1154 West Third Street. You will need your Penn College ID card to obtain a permit. You can pay by cash or check.
On Your First Day
We hope your first day goes smoothly. Following is a list of things to help you on your first day.
Parking
After obtaining a parking permit, park in any space designated as faculty/staff, except for the ones marked reserved unless you purchase a reserved parking pass. See the Main Campus Parking map for areas designated for parking on the Penn College campus. Parking permits are not required during the summer months.
New Hire Orientation
If you are beginning a full-time or regular part-time position, you will receive information regarding New Hire Orientation once all pre-employment requirements have been completed. During New Hire Orientation you will meet with various members of our team and learn about Penn College, including employee benefits, campus services, and much more!
Keys
Confirm with your supervisor that you have received all necessary keys for your work area.
