Please consider supporting Penn College's Solar Decathlon Design Challenge team as they advance to the finals in Office Building Design!

The collegiate competition, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy, challenges interdisciplinary student teams to design residential or commercial projects that are "highly efficient, innovative, low-carbon buildings powered by renewable energy." Designs are evaluated across 10 sub-competitions including architecture and engineering as well as market analysis, durability and resilience, energy performance, embodied environmental impact and comfort and environmental quality and occupant experience. The finals, to be held April 21-23, 2023, at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Denver, CO will be the culmination of more than six months of hard work in each of these categories. The project is a three bedroom net zero home for Greater Lycoming Habitat for Humanity that is located near the College, and is slated to be built by Penn College students. The images above are from last year's team submission, "Community League Office Center" which was designed with Williamsport's Community Theatre League.
