As an alumnus/alumna of Penn College, Williamsport Area Community College, or Williamsport Technical Institute, you have the ability to share your life experiences and knowledge with our students, which will assist them in networking and entering the workforce and enhance their college experience as well.

Alumni in the Classroom

One of our largest volunteer programs, alumni return to campus to speak to classes and students groups, and may participate in lab demonstrations.

Current students are very interested in the realities of the working world and enjoy hearing about the successes of alumni and the potential to network with someone in their field.

Open House

Offering a welcoming face to incoming freshman and their families can go a long way toward helping them choose Penn College and adjust to campus life.

Welcome Weekend

We help new and returning students move into their residence halls. A friendly face and some carrying of boxes makes for a very nice welcome for our students.

More Volunteering Opportunities

Admissions Volunteer

Assist the Admissions Office at college fairs, accepted-student events, and/or by speaking about your experience by phone or mail in order to answer questions from prospective students about the campus or your program.

These are sporadic events; some may occur during the evening hours.

Advisory Committee Member

Advisory committees act as recommending bodies to the faculty and administration, and consist of in-field professionals who act as partners in the development of curriculum. Your curricular and equipment advice, as well as your industry connections and internship opportunities, are invaluable to our students and to the growth of our institution.

If you are interested, contact the Alumni Relations Office. We will forward your name to the respective faculty member or dean who makes the final committee selections.

Social Media Ambassadors

Would you enjoy connecting with students through Penn College’s social media pages? We are looking for alumni who are willing to interact on Facebook, Twitter, and perhaps other social media outlets. When prospective students post, they may or may not have decided to enroll at Penn College. You can help them choose a Penn College education.

This type of volunteer project can be done on your own time and from the convenience of home. If interested, contact the alumni office so that we can provide you with some basic training and guidelines on our social media policies.

Alumni Speaker Series

Do you have a profession or hobby that you would be interested in sharing with Penn College students? Contact the Alumni Relations Office to learn about our speaker series. Each semester, we bring an alumnus/alumna back to campus to present on a topic. These can be general information sessions or specific field related instruction.
