The ATHS loop is the temporary “home” for the rented chiller. It will be in place until late October.

General Services’ HVAC and electrical crews recently installed a chiller from Sunbelt Rentals along the south-facing loop of the Breuder Advanced Technology & Health Sciences Center. The chiller will remain in place through Oct. 28. It’s a temporary fix for the building’s chilled water system – responsible for air conditioning – that failed last fall.

“General Services created a plan for a permanent solution to provide comfort cooling for the ATHS," said Mervin C. Zimmerman, assistant facilities maintenance manager, HVAC. "The plan required the installation of the rental chiller for the 2024 cooling season. New replacement chillers have been purchased, and we are working toward having them installed and operating for the 2025 cooling season."
