A generous gift from Jersey Shore State Bank will once again benefit a program that enables high school students to take courses for college credit through Pennsylvania College of Technology.

The bank provided a $5,000 gift through the Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program to Penn College Dual Enrollment, which allows academically qualified high school and career and technology center students to take Penn College courses tuition-free during their regular school day.

In 2022-23, Penn College Dual Enrollment worked with nearly 60 high schools and career and technology centers across Pennsylvania, with EITC funds allowing nearly 1,800 students to earn almost 7,000 Penn College credits.

“We thank Jersey Shore State Bank for this generous gift to support Penn College Dual Enrollment students,” said Elizabeth A. Biddle, Penn College’s senior corporate relations director. “High school students experience hands-on technology education that also leads to transcripted credits toward a Penn College degree – at no cost to the student. Jersey Shore State Bank is demonstrating a steadfast commitment to Penn College and our students.”

“EITC funds are a great opportunity for the Jersey Shore State Bank to support Penn College Dual Enrollment, a program that helps engage students in career development that also provides credits towards the completion of a college degree,” said Garrett Sanner, regional president of Jersey Shore State Bank. “Access for high school students to such technical courses helps students gain academic and technical skills to help overcome the skills gap.”

Jersey Shore State Bank, which has provided support to Penn College for 40 years, is a member of the Visionary Society ($100,000-$499,999) on the college’s Donor Wall.

The Penn College Foundation is approved as an Educational Improvement Organization under the EITC program administered by the state Department of Community & Economic Development.
