What is Momentum?

What is Momentum?

It’s simple. All first-time, full-time bachelor’s degree students with fall semester starts will be automatically enrolled in Momentum. As long as you're enrolled continuously and maintain a 3.0 GPA, we’ll lock in your incoming year tuition rate for the remaining three years. And, that's not all. We’ll be here to help along the way, lending the support you need to thrive and enjoy the many perks of on-time graduation.

Momentum benefits

On the surface, Momentum's primary advantage is a potential tuition savings of over $3,000. Not bad for sticking to your commitment. But the real benefits go much deeper.

Staying on track

By staying on track, you’re likely to develop better study habits, which will lead to better grades.

Earning Higher GPAs

Students with higher GPAs are often greeted with more desirable job offers. Many receive them before graduation.

Graduating on time

When you complete college in the prescribed time for your program, you'll avoid paying for an extra semester or two.

Momentum FAQs

If you are starting Fall 2022 or later and meet program eligibility requirements noted above, you will automatically be enrolled in this program.

If you test in to MTH004, MTH005, or MTH008, you will need to satisfy this developmental coursework by the end of your first year in the program, which includes summer semesters. Specifically, if you test in to MTH004, you are encouraged to remediate and retest or complete the course prior to your full-time enrollment in the Fall semester. This will help to ensure that you stay on track with program requirements and timely completion of your degree.

Steady progress toward the timely completion of your academic studies is a cornerstone of Momentum. If you haven't graduated by the conclusion of your eighth semester, you will lose tuition freeze benefits.

You should work with your advisor to keep a close watch on your performance throughout your participation in Momentum. If your GPA falls below 3.0 at the conclusion of the Fall semester, you will have the Spring semester to bring it up. If at the end of the Spring semester your GPA remains at or has fallen below the 3.0 minimum, you may use one or more Summer courses to bring your GPA back to eligibility. If by the end of the Summer session your GPA still remains below 3.0, your Momentum incentive program eligibility ends, and you will be billed at the standard rate for each semester that follows.

The College will review your GPA upon issue of Spring semester grades in mid-May. If needed for remediation, the College will review your GPA again at the conclusion of the Summer session in early-August.

You should plan to meet regularly with your academic advisor, who will help you to ensure your course load, course sequence, and GPA stay on track. Academic Affairs will help you monitor your progress and watch for and mitigate any early signs of potential risk.
