Q&A with Compass Natural Gas

WHAT EXCITES YOU ABOUT THE INDUSTRY YOU SERVE?

What excites me about our field is that we are in a very specific niche between energy and oilfield services, forcing us to be consistently innovative and ever changing to fit and grow our market. We have regular customers, but every day is ever-changing. That brings new opportunities, challenges, and excitement.

WHAT DO YOU APPRECIATE MOST ABOUT YOUR COMPANY'S CULTURE/MISSION?

When I first started, I appreciated my company's mission of delivering natural gas to places that aren't on the pipeline. Now that I've worked here a while, I appreciate the comradery and small company culture most because it makes me feel like I'm going to work with good friends.

HOW DID YOUR COMPANY FIRST CONNECT WITH PENN COLLEGE?

I had a relationship with Penn College through a different company in my past. I connected my present company with Penn College, specifically for the fall Career Fair.

WHY DO YOU BELIEVE PENN COLLEGE IS A SOUND INVESTMENT? WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR RETURN?

I've seen the students who have graduated from Penn College and know people who work at Penn College. I believe it is a sound investment because I am sure the skills students acquire are ones they will absolutely be able to use out in the workforce.

WHAT QUALITIES DO YOU VALUE MOST WHEN RECRUITING PENN COLLEGE STUDENTS & ALUMNI?

The things I appreciate most are graduates' eagerness and readiness to work and their applied learning skills.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU SHARE WITH HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS WHO ARE CONSIDERING PENN COLLEGE?

If I could give one piece of advice to high school students considering attending Penn College, it would be to decide what they want their future to look like. If that future includes any technical knowledge, I would recommend they absolutely go with Penn College as I have no doubt they'll build the skills and confidence to enter the workforce and be a top candidate.

Industry Connections

"I believe in the importance of business partnerships with local colleges. It gives students and professors an idea of what current workforce expectations are. It also gives businesses an idea of the kinds of future employees they will have in several years' time."
