An individual who wishes to take classes without enrolling in a specific degree or certificate major may apply for admission as a nondegree student.
There is no fee charged for a nondegree application. Nondegree applicants are not required to submit official high school transcripts or GED scores.
Nondegree applicants may submit an application form up to one year in advance of their intended enrollment. They receive a student ID number upon receipt of their application and may check their application status through the Student Information System. The SIS will also provide access to additional information, including placement testing and billing information.
Those who are accepted as nondegree students may select courses without regard to degree or certificate requirements. They must meet any stated prerequisites for courses by providing official transcripts for evaluation prior to enrollment.
Nondegree students may register for no more than six credits per semester. They are not eligible for financial aid.
Those who later wish to apply for degree-seeking status may do so by completing the Application for Admission form.
Noncredit students earn credit for courses completed. Credits earned as a nondegree student will be evaluated at that time to determine if they fulfill graduation requirements for the chosen major.
The College recommends review of nondegree status upon completion of 15 credits.
