Take a comparative, research-based approach to understanding how real-world emergencies are managed in Puerto Rico and the mainland United States.

GLB299 Ceramics in Japan

Explore the rich heritage of Japanese traditional handicraft arts through an in-depth study of ceramic history, regional styles, and cultural aesthetics.

Dominican Republic

GLB313 Dental Hygiene in the Dominican Republic

Gain impactful field experience in the Dominican Republic, planning and providing primary oral healthcare for underserved populations.

Open to students in the Dental Hygiene program only.

Spring Break 2027

London

GLB299 Innovating for Access

Examine how technology, policy, and advocacy intersect to improve access for people with disabilities in London's urban environment. This course is offered by the University of Florida and the University of East London.

Open to all students.

Previous Global Experiences

Europe

European Sustainable Building, Historical Architecture and Art

Students discovered celebrated art, historic architecture, and modern sustainable building practices in Europe. The experience included travel to changing European locations with guided tours and lectures at buildings and museums. 

France & Italy

Transportation Technology

Students got a first-hand look at the latest collision repair processes and techniques at a number of hotspots in France and Italy. They toured the Cité de l'Automobile museum in Mulhouse, France, and checked out Alfa Romeo in Milan, Italy. Students were able to see how the professionals get the job done at Lamborghini Motor Company, Ferrari Motor Company, and Maserati. 

Central America

Dental Mission and Service Learning in Central America

Students gained field experience in Central America that incorporated planning, providing, and evaluating primary oral health services to an underserved population.

Belarus

Nursing

Students earned credits while studying nursing practice and education in Belarus. They worked alongside fellow nursing students and other medical staff while exploring the cities of Minsk and Gomel.

Central America

Medical Mission and Service Learning in Central America

Students explored global healthcare and increased their knowledge of cultural concepts as it relates to nursing care. They learned how to plan, implement, and evaluate primary healthcare in another country. Students, following the course. were able to spend one week in Central America gaining hands-on experience. 

United States

Human Services: Service Learning in the U.S.

Students explored the intersection between various cultures and modern society in locations throughout the United States.

Italy

Global Food and Hospitality: Cuisine, Culture, and Perspectives

In this 16-day experience, students explored cuisine and culture in various cities and regions in Italy renowned for cuisine, wine, and agritourism.

Guatemala

Nursing

One of the best things about being a nurse is helping others. This global experience course allowed students to put their medical experience to good use by lending a hand at the Glens Falls Medical Mission Foundation in Guatemala. Throughout the eight-day trip, students worked alongside doctors, nurses, and other health professionals in a medical clinic setting in Nueva Santa Rosa, Guatemala.

Dominican Republic

Cultural Immersion and Service Learning

Students engaged with local families in the El Cibao region of the Dominican Republic. They experienced life-changing connections by serving communities in need of clean water, sustainable food, dignified health care, and vocational training.
