About the Program

Civilization’s best buildings stand the test of time. Taking their place history, they incorporate methods and materials of their era. Be it a home or a commercial facility, a national monument or a simple structure, buildings serve a function, yet showcase the skills and craftsmanship of the builder.

This unique multi-day pre-college program introduces participants to the building construction industry through a host of hands-on experiences alongside faculty in Penn College’s Building Construction Technology program. Workshops explore a variety of construction applications including masonry principles and timber framing. From technique to hands-on learning, students will learn everything they need to build their own timber-framed pavilions. They’ll also take a field trip to a sawmill and harvest real mountain stone.
