One of Time magazine’s 100 most influential people in the world (2010), Jaron Lanier also was named one of the top 100 public intellectuals in the world by Prospect and Foreign Policy magazines, and one of history’s 300 or so greatest inventors in the Encyclopedia Britannica. A pioneer in virtual reality (a term he coined), he led teams creating VR applications for medicine, design, and other fields.

His book You Are Not a Gadget, A Manifesto was a New York Times, Los Angeles Times, and Boston Globe bestseller. His latest release Who Owns the Future? was number 11 on Amazon’s Best Books of the Year list for 2013.
