Nine students from Pennsylvania College of Technology's English as a Second Language program completed service-learning projects Dec. 2. The students were involved with The Academia and Messiah Lutheran Senior Center for five weeks on Friday mornings during the last half of the Fall 2011 semester.

Each year, the Office of Children and Youth from Lycoming and Clinton counties compiles a list of boys and girls from needy families to receive presents from the Penn College "Giving Tree." And each year, the agency is amazed by the generosity of the campus community.

Young women in grades six through eight took part in SMART Girls workshops at Penn College on Tuesday, immersing themselves in educational (and fun) activities to reinforce the role that math and science play in technology-based professions.

Seven students on Penn College's Martial Arts Club team were promoted to the next belt level during Saturday's Martial Arts Seminar and Kyu Exam at the Field House. Playing at home on Saturday, Pennsylvania College of Technology men's and women's basketball teams closed out the fall semester portion of their seasons with losses. Both teams now are idle until early January.
