Fall semester ends for Penn College basketball teams

Pennsylvania College of Technology basketball teams closed out the fall semester portion of their schedules with losses on Saturday in nonconference action, while on Sunday, the college’s wrestlers came out on the short end in their dual-match opener.



Men’s basketball
Hosting Clarks Summit University, the Wildcats fell behind 44-29 at the half and lost, 80-67, to drop to 1-7 overall. Corey Blackwell, of Hammonton, New Jersey, came off the bench to lead Penn College with 10 points. Three other Wildcats scored nine points each, while Will Sulesky, of Huntingdon, and Jesse White, of Harrisburg, each grabbed seven rebounds, and Gavin Barrett, of Roselle, New Jersey, dished out six assists.

Penn College now is idle until Jan. 2, when it travels to Misericordia University.

Women’s basketball
On the road at Houghton College, Penn College fought back from a 10-point halftime deficit with a big second half that sent the game into overtime, where it was outscored 9-4 and fell, 71-66, to go to 1-7. Rachel Teats, of Middleburg, who was a perfect 8 for 8 at the foul line, led the Wildcats with 18 points, while Ja’Quela Dyer, of Dover, Delaware, scored 14 points and hauled in a team-high 17 rebounds, and Aubrey Stetts, of Jersey Shore, added 12 points. Teats also led with six assists.

Penn College now is idle until Jan. 3, when it travels to Mt. Aloysius College.

Wrestling
On Sunday at Rhode Island College, the Wildcats lost, 23-15. Noah Hunt, of Muncy, at 141 pounds; Cullen van Rooyen, of Dresden, Ohio, at 157; and Jake Kallenborn, of Port Allegany, at 184, posted wins by major decision for Penn College, while winning by decision was Nicholas Sermon, of Norristown, at 149.
