Red Cross Meets Goal During Two-Day Campus Blood Drive

Riechenbach, of Dornsife, enrolled in information technology sciences-gaming and simulation.The account manager for American Red Cross Blood Services, Northeastern Pennsylvania Region, thanks Penn College for hosting a successful two-day drive this past week. "We collected 102 units on Wednesday and 79 units yesterday, making our goal both days," Marge Smith said in a Friday email to College Health Services. "This 181 units potentially saves 543 lives, which is a great help during our emergency plea for blood.  Summers are tough with us not have those high school and college blood drives, which is about 30 percent of our area's blood needs, plus throw in vacations and many national tragedies this summer, our need for blood is at the emergency stage." The college community was encouraged to give blood in conjunction with the 15th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001. All presenting donors received Pizza Hut pizza and Weis Markets baked goods during the campus Red Cross visit.
