Students studying radiography at Pennsylvania College of Technology, along with the radiography program faculty and staff and the college’s Medical Imaging Club, are celebrating National Radiologic Technology Week Nov. 8-14.
Students developed educational posters for display during the week at hospitals where they perform clinical rotations.
Medical imaging and radiation therapy save lives. Radiologic technologists operate the diagnostic equipment and deliver radiation treatment, an important component of the health care team. During National Radiologic Technology Week, those professionals take the opportunity to educate the public about their vital role in modern medicine and patient care.
National Radiologic Technology Week also celebrates the discovery of X-rays on Nov. 8, 1895, by Wilhelm Roentgen at Wurzburg University in Germany. Roentgen was experimenting with a type of Crookes tube when he discovered X-rays.
