Leahy.Jessica L. Bower, simulation laboratory coordinator for nursing education in Penn College's School of Health Sciences, was honored by Wilkes University over the weekend as a member of the Middle Atlantic Conference all-century tennis team. Bower, a star member of the 1993 Wilkes team (playing under her maiden name of Jessica Bixler), received a commemorative coin during Saturday's homecoming festivities at her alma mater. She was one of nine tennis players – and one of 71 former/current student-athletes overall – to be selected as part of the MAC 100 celebration. The conference is recognizing top athletes from throughout its history, naming student-athletes to Century Teams in each sport from each era. Eras were delineated based on conference membership and sport sponsorship, and the number of individuals selected per team varies depending upon the nature of the sport. Century Teams were selected from an online fan poll, combined with the votes of MAC sports information directors.
