Mary Jo NonnemacherFor the second consecutive year, Pennsylvania College of Technology's Student Nurses' Association earned top honors for its Web site at a state conference.

The site which earned the "Outstanding Web Site" award from the Student Nurses' Association of Pennsylvania was designed and is maintained by club President Mary Jo Nonnemacher, of Bethlehem, who is pursuing a bachelor's degree in nursing. The University of Pennsylvania earned the runner-up spot.

The site provides announcements of upcoming Penn College SNA events, a newsletter, meeting minutes, links that are useful for student nurses and contact information for club officers. Overall, the site has become an important communication tool for the group, whose members often want to be involved but cannot attend meetings because of class schedules and clinical rotations.

Eight Penn College SNA members attended the Student Nurses' Association of Pennsylvania Convention, held Nov. 12-15 in Harrisburg, during which the award was presented. In addition to the awards ceremony, the students attended workshops in autism, robotic heart surgery and hypothermia for cardiac arrest.

Those who attended, in addition to Nonnemacher, are Nicole G. Brinkman, of Mill Hall; Kathryn A. Foster, of Williamsport; Amanda L. Hinkal, of Montoursville; Angie M. Hunter, of Cogan Station; Tiffany M. James, of Mount Carmel; Desiree E. Stoker, of Selinsgrove; and Merete A. Tyberg, of Williamsport. They were accompanied by Pamela L. Starcher, director of nursing at Penn College. Adviser for the club is Dina L. Wilson, associate professor of nursing.
