Red Cross 'Ecstatic' With Campus Bloodmobile Results
The American Red Cross and Student Health Services were "ecstatic" with the turnout for Wednesday's Bloodmobile at the Bush Campus Center, where a total of 193 individuals registered to give blood and 174 pints were collected exceeding the 170-pint goal. There were 50 first-time donors, and every pint collected goes to saving another life.
"Wednesday's Bloodmobile went very smoothly," said Carl L. Shaner, Student Health Center director, "and the compassion of the Penn College campus showed through despite the wet weather." The winners of the gift cards sponsored by Student Health Services will be announced after the holiday break; winnersof the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees tickets will be announced by the Red Cross at the end of April.
"Incredibly, Penn College faculty, staff and students have donated a total of 662 pints of blood since the start of this academic year," Shaner added. "This, once again, shows the ongoing support that Penn College has for Red Cross Blood Services. We hope to continue this tradition at Penn College; watch for new incentives next year during the Bloodmobile."
The Red Cross and Student Health Services thank all students, staff and faculty who participated as a donor or volunteer; special thanks to Food Services for providing the pizzas for the event.
