Reiki Classes to Be Offered at North Campus

Published 03.15.2006

An introduction to Reiki, a relaxing and healing form of touch therapy, will be offered April 22 and May 13 at Pennsylvania College of Technology's North Campus near Wellsboro.

Both the Level I class (April 22) and the Level II class (May 13) will be presented from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The noncredit offerings will address relaxation, stress and pain-reduction techniques.

Instructor Sue Yarnes is a certified Reiki instructor and owner of the Reiki Center, Bloomsburg. She has more than 20 years of experience in Reiki and energy work, having taught in hospitals, colleges and wellness centers throughout the region.

The goal of Reiki, which originated in Japan more than 100 years ago, is to improve health and increase vitality while decreasing stress levels. Due to its simplicity and ease of use, Reiki is gaining popularity with the general public, as well as with nurses and other medical personnel, counselors, and holistic practitioners. Participants will learn specific techniques that provide deep levels of healing to treat illness, overcome negative behavior and foster a more positive lifestyle.

The cost for the Level I course is $85; the cost for the Level II course is $135. Breaks will be provided. Participants may bring their own lunches.

If there is sufficient interest, a Level III class may be offered on May 6.

Pre-registration is required for the classes, which are being offered through Workforce Development & Continuing Education at Penn College. Call (570) 724-7703 to register or receive more information.
