Notes and Definitions

  1. Combined total of Tested at Penn College and Tested at Third-party Location.
  2. Results of tests conducted by Penn College are typically available in 48-72 hours.
  3. Tests conducted off campus but reported to the College. Positive test results from this category are included in Total Positive.
  4. Positive cases include reports to the College from employees or students that were tested at a third-party location.
  5. Active cases are individuals currently in isolation pending CDC-specified criteria for recovery. Any remaining cases listed in 'Total Positive' have met CDC criteria and have returned to class or work. CDC criteria provides for return after:
    • 10 days since symptoms first appeared and
    • 24 hours with no fever without the use of fever-reducing medications and
    • Other symptoms of COVID-19 are improving.
      • Note: Loss of taste and smell may persist for weeks or months after recovery and need not delay the end of isolation
  6. Recovery is defined by the Pennsylvania Department of Health as more than 30 days past the date of their first positive test.

Data is current as of 9 a.m. on the day it is reported.

The College community will be notified of new cases through a daily notification (Monday-Friday). Any results received over a weekend will be reported in Monday's data.

Spring 2021: Due to the resumption of sports, and in alignment with the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) testing guidance, the College will begin testing 25 percent of spring athletes each week. Tests associated with this testing process will reported through the Spring 2021 Dashboard on the day following sample collection, as will results when they are available.

Fall 2020: We have enhanced our COVID-19 dashboard to provide additional data points. Data reported on 9/2/2020 reflects 17 tests conducted at third-party locations. The 17 tests represent those conducted by a third party from the beginning of our data reporting through 9/2/2020. Future reporting of this information will happen daily, as it does with all other data points.
