Innovation Engineering

(Effective Fall 2019)

This Professional Certificate offers the core courses in the innovation leadership sequence and provides the theory, concepts, and hands-on activities that foster and develop the skills and abilities that support the creative process. Graduates will be able to lead change within their industry, careers, communities and personal lives.

Career Opportunities

This major will supplement many degree and certificate credentials in virtually all disciplines by providing guidance in proven theory and concepts in innovation techniques. Graduates will be able to lead product/process development teams, prototype models quickly and inexpensively, apply the patent process to new ideas, and communicate with appropriate levels of management about the innovation process and results.

Program Goals

A graduate of this major should be able to:
  • understand and apply the fundamental concepts and techniques of "create, communicate, commercialize, and implement systems of innovation".
  • apply the concepts and processes to their own business or work environment.
  • lead innovation teams through a successful product or process creation.
