Introductory study of emergency medical services and advanced study related to airway management and patient assessment. Discussion includes the importance of the wellness of the EMT: EMT roles and responsibilities; injury prevention; legalities and ethics; and decision making. Topics related to patient assessment surrounding trauma and medical emergencies include therapeutic communications, life span development, history taking, physical examination, scene assessment, and ongoing reassessments.
