Leadership and Management for the Practicing RN
Examine concepts related to the role of leadership and management within the discipline of nursing. Fifteen hours of independent practice experiences focus on leading and managing problem solving processes to improve the delivery of nursing care. Consideration given to current resource utilization and interprofessional collaboration within the context of leadership theory and evidenced-based practice. Topics include conflict management, ethical and legal principles, political influences on health care, administrative responsibilities such as budgeting, accreditation, risk management, interfacing with healthcare administrators, and process improvement. Various opportunities to collaborate and evaluate concepts using current standards of professional nursing practice exist throughout the course. 3 Credits (3 Lecture) Prerequisite(s): NUR494.
