Topics include amino acid chemistry and protein structure; hemoglobin structure and function; enzyme kinetics and regulation; motifs and hormonal integration of metabolic pathways; glycolysis, gluconeogenesis, and glycogen metabolism; citric acid cycle; oxidative phosphorylation; overview of amino acid, fatty acid, triglyceride, cholesterol, steroid and nucleotide metabolism; biochemical mechanisms of diabetes mellitus and other disease states and their treatments; and current techniques in biochemistry research.
