Fitness Nutrition


Examination of basic nutrition principles will be covered to debunk common myths within society. Topics include the role that diet and nutrition play in health, physical fitness, and performance. Applied skills will be implemented to make educated food choices and develop nutrition programs to enhance health, physical fitness and optimize performance. 3 Credits (3 Lecture)

Nutrition for Special Populations


Nutritional needs, diet therapy, and the relationship between health and sickness for a wide range of special
populations will be examined. Emphasis will be on the relationships between age, gender, trauma, chronic and acute
illness, and various forms of nutritional therapies. 3 Credits (3 Lecture) Prerequisite(s): SPN180.

Nutrition for the Athlete and Bodybuilder


Learning the nutritional differences between the professional/college athletes in comparison to the amateur athlete will help the
exercise science student better serve clientele. Nutritional sciences, nutritional supplements, vitamins, minerals and anabolic steroids used in athletics and bodybuilding including the legal and moral implications of using supplements and anabolic steroids will be discussed. 3 Credits (3 Lecture) Prerequisite(s): SPN180.
