A serious study of selected literature with a war-related theme or background. Examination of war and its place in world (and often specifically American) culture. Uses fiction, poetry, drama, nonfiction (including creative nonfiction), and film. Texts will represent wars throughout history, frequently centering on America's participation, and emphasizing war's humanist rather than mechanical elements. (Cultural Diversity)
