Medically-based course that provides an in-depth and thorough description of the overall human body plan including clinical conditions that may arise. Initial overview of gametogenesis, ovulation, and conception. Development is reviewed through an investigation of the bilaminar/trilaminar germinal disc and the layout of the body plan through gene expression. Outline of the embryonic period (three to eight weeks of development) including the rise of tissues and organs from the germ layers. Emphasis on the further development of each organ system from the end of the embryonic period until birth. Intended for students specializing in health science programs. Fall Only.
