Introduction to the art and architectural monuments of Italy. Art, architecture, civic planning, and their methods are discussed from the era of antiquity. Exploration of major architectural, painting, and sculptural achievements in ancient Italy, including the Greek and Etruscan influence, the Roman Republic, Imperial Rome, and Early Christian Rome. Designed as a two‐semester sequence, ART 256 is to be followed with a 1‐credit course (ART 257) that includes travel to Italy and a final project. 2 Credits (2 Lecture) (ART, Cultural Diversity) Fall Only.
