It is the intention of Penn College to offer educational opportunities to anyone who has the interest, desire, and ability to pursue advanced study. Therefore, courses of study are offered at the certificate, associate, and bachelor-degree levels. Admission criteria vary according to majors. At a minimum, applicants must have a high school transcript indicating satisfied graduation requirements, an official GED transcript with scores to confirm receipt of a Commonwealth diploma, or an educational transcript. Some majors are restricted to persons who meet certain academic skills and prerequisites; major-specific admission criteria is referenced in the curriculum information. Questions regarding the admission standards* for specific majors should be directed to the Admissions Office. [Nondiscrimination Statement]
Final acceptance into a Penn College major is determined as a result of the placement testing process (if applicable).
The College reserves the right to deny admission or re-admission to any student if, in the opinion of College authorities, his/her admission is not in the best interest of the student or the College. The College will provide opportunities to develop the basic skills necessary to enroll in degree and certificate courses to those who demonstrate such needs on the College's placement tests.
*The School of Health Sciences has special admission requirements.
Application and Enrollment Deadlines
The deadline to apply is July 1 for first-year, full-time, degree-seeking students who wish to begin classes in the fall (this does not apply to students seeking re-admission or to transfer students). The College reserves the right to extend the application deadline. In cases where personal hardship, military service, or home relocation reasonably prevents application before the deadline, you may appeal to the Associate Dean for Admissions.
Degree-seeking students must be enrolled (all tuition and fees paid) by the close of business on the first day of any academic semester. Non-degree-seeking students must be enrolled by the close of business on the last day of the first week of classes for any given academic semester.
