Mark Heckel (Penn State 1981, M.Ed. 1987) brings nearly 35 years of experience and expertise to the Center as a seasoned educator, training specialist, and instructional designer. His experience and knowledge of web design and development, eLearning design and development, and integrated media (audio and video) design has been invaluable in the Center’s expansion and continuous improvement of online and hybrid course offerings. He also has a strong background in creating accessible learning content.
Prior to working at Penn College, Mark was Senior Instructional Designer for Student Affairs at Penn State University – University Park. He also served as a Senior Information Technology Training Specialist at Penn State, a public-school Instructional Technology Coordinator in Pennsylvania’s Midd-West and Montgomery Area school districts, and a music teacher and secondary band director in both Montgomery and the Broward County (Florida) school districts.
Mark also serves as Technology Sub-committee chairman of the National Officials Committee of USA Track and Field, is a nationally recognized expert in track and field safety and electronic measurement, and is a retired Boy Scout training leader and Scoutmaster.
