This course emphasizes recognition and safe work practices for electrical workers operating within an industrial arc flash environment in accordance with NFPA 70E guidelines. This course also emphasizes how to minimize arc flash potential when performing voltage tests, troubleshooting, and installing electrical equipment. Proper selection of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and serviceability testing along with other relevant electrical safety topics are covered such as over-current, short circuit, and ground fault protection; determining available fault current of transformers; and electrical test equipment ratings. The instructional format is a unique blend of lecture, presentation, and review of case studies in an interactive discussion format.
