Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Online Certificate

The fully online MRI certificate curriculum is designed to educate students (U.S. registered radiographers; U.S.-registered radiation therapy technologists or U.S.-certified nuclear medicine technologists (RT(N)); ARDMS credentialed; ARMRIT credentialed) to use MRI equipment, conduct image scans of cross-sections of the body, and reconstruct those scans into 3-D images. Students learn how contrast agents aid in viewing specific areas during an MRI procedure. Students also gain an understanding of how MRI uses a combination of powerful magnetic fields, pulsing radio-frequencies, and a computer to produce images of almost any area of the body.

This online professional certificate program is an ideal way to enhance your imaging skills and can be completed full time in one year or on a part-time basis over a period of 2 years. Graduates may also apply the earned credits toward the Applied Health Studies bachelor's degree at Penn College, and conveniently continue their education at the same institution. An added MRI credential may lead to higher salaries and increased marketability.

This major is available online via distance learning.
