This major provides the essential skills for excelling in the many industries and occupations relating to both sports and events. A solid business core is fortified with the functional areas of marketing, finance, accounting, human resources, and management. The comprehensive focus of the curriculum, including directed electives and internships, allows for the integration of sport and event subject areas – a critical component for this management field.

Accreditation & Industry Connections
The Accounting and Business programs have been accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).
Graduates have employment opportunities in a wide variety of management positions relating to both sport- and event-based industries, such as major and minor sports leagues, retail, equipment, tickets, conventions, conferences, event entities, sport agencies, health clubs, etc. Graduates can be employed at the local, regional, and national levels. Program-mandated internships help provide knowledge, skills, abilities, and connections needed to help a graduate’s marketability in either field.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median annual wage for meeting, convention, and event planners was $49,370 in May 2018. The top 10 percent earned more than $84,900.
