WEDnetPA Advanced Technology Training

Advanced Technology training includes the teaching of a variety of high-tech skills needed to be successful in the workplace. All employees are eligible for Advanced Technology training; however, the training must be directly related to the employee's scope of work. An Advanced Technology training grant may provide reimbursement of training costs up to $850 per qualified employee (at a maximum of $50,000 per company).

In-house, company training is permitted.

Topics may include:

  • Advanced manufacturing technology*
  • Computer programming
  • Database development
  • E-commerce
  • Information security
  • Management information systems
  • Medical applications
  • Network administration
  • Scientific applications
  • Software engineering
  • Systems analysis
  • Technology support
  • Website design/development

Software product training must be considered advanced technology. Consumer software product training and company-wide software or end-user training is not eligible for an Advanced Technology training grant; however, these may meet eligibility requirements for Essential Skills training funding.

*Advanced manufacturing technology is defined as using technology/automation, the integration of networked computers, and manufacturing operations (e.g. machine tools, control processes) to boost capacity, productivity, and quality. It also can include:

  • Advanced control systems design, operation & maintenance
  • Automating business functions (order processing, inventory management, etc.)
  • Automated machinery design, operation & maintenance
  • CNC, CAD, CAM & PLC
  • Electrical & mechanical design, operation & maintenance
  • ERP/MRP systems (factory management software)
  • Manufacturing instrumentation design, operation & maintenance
  • Rapid manufacturing
  • Robotic systems design, operation & maintenance
  • Solid modeling
