Q: What is the Teacher Development Center?
A: The Teacher Development Center (TDC) is a consortium of providers from the Pennsylvania College of Technology, Tech Prep/School to Work, Workforce Development & Continuing Education, Pennsylvania Housing Resource Center at Penn College, Pennsylvania Housing Research Center at The Pennsylvania State University, and Penn State Continuing and Distance Education Center at Penn College.
These entities have joined forces with a mission to:
"Provide substantive, relevant experiences and services for the professional educators or administrator seeking to stay on the cutting-edge of new technology, optimize his or her teaching methods, and master support skills."
Q: What type of courses are offered by the TDC?
A: The TDC promotes both credit and non-credit courses designed to:
- assist academic, vocational, & technical education teachers as they help their students meet current world class standards and challenges in education;
- provide the option of customized classes to best meet the variety of needs of educators; and
- share knowledge and skills immediately applicable in the modern classroom.
Q: Who can benefit from the TDC's resources and offerings?
A: The TDC will benefit:
- Vocational teachers;
- Academic teachers;
- Guidance Counselors;
- School Administrators;
- Substitute teachers; and
- Tech Prep/School to Work Coordinators
Q: How can I apply the offerings to Act 48?
A: For all non-credit offerings after July 1, 2000, participants will earn continuing professional education hours that would be applicable toward the activities required by Act 48.
Some courses will be available for graduate credit through Penn State Continuing & Distance Education Center at Penn College. Call their office at (570) 322-5771 for more details.

Q: Who will instruct the courses?
A: TDC instructors are trained, tested educators who are knowledgeable and skilled in their respective fields. Contact the TDC at (570) 327-4775 for more detail about a particular course's instructor.
Q: Where are the classes held?
A: Classes will be held in Williamsport, on the Pennsylvania College of Technology campus, unless otherwise noted. Many classes can also be provided at a location of your choosing. Call (570) 327-4775 for more information.
