Two representatives of a much-heralded workforce-training network administered by Penn College outlined the program’s structure and successes during a recent conference in Denver, Colo. Thomas J. Venditti, statewide director of the Workforce & Economic Development Network of Pennsylvania, and Larry L. Michael, executive director of workforce and economic development at Penn College, spotlighted the program for educators attending the Innovation 2008 Conference in March.

Marking a quarter-century of providing workforce and industry training and education to businesses and individuals in the Northern Tier, the North Campus of Penn College held a 25th anniversary celebration Tuesday for current and former staff and students and members of the local community.

The Factory Built Housing Center at Penn College, in conjunction with the Central Pennsylvania Factory Built Housing Partnership, recently conducted a training program for residential builders through the Green Advantage organization. The April 17-18 training deals with all aspects of the green-building philosophy during the home-building process, including energy conservation and renewable energy, conserving water, resource selection, design and construction techniques, and indoor air quality.

Penn College is offering an Administrative Professionals Day event on Wednesday, April 23, to honor administrative professionals, secretaries and office workers. The program, which will run from 8-9:30 a.m., begins with a breakfast buffet at Le Jeune Chef, the college’s fine-dining restaurant.

A group of Penn College students recently surveyed area manufacturers about their use of technology, coming away with a heightened appreciation of the region’s industrial assets – and the challenges that face those doing business in Central Pennsylvania.
Three of them – Melissa A. Miller, a technology management major from Montoursville; Joseph R. Raup, of Trout Run, enrolled in business administration: small business and entrepreneurship; and Mahdi E. Shaji, of Turnersville, N.J. , also majoring in technology management – presented their findings Wednesday during a “Regional Technology Snapshot” event at Lycoming College.
