Machine Shop: Basic Lathe Operations

Gain a basic understanding of the use and operation of manual machine shop lathes. Topics include components of a lathe, lathe operations, and machine mathematics. At the end of the course, participants will be able to set up basic lathe operations; use formulas to calculate speeds and feeds; and perform metal removing operations such as turning, facing, drilling, grooving, turning between centers, and threading. Basic machine maintenance and safety will be stressed throughout the course.
