This program consists of a combination of classroom instruction and field exercises. The classroom instruction will include theories and application of hazardous waste site activities, safety and health concepts. The field exercise includes a scenario requiring participation in the practical application of the material presented in the classroom, such as proper use of personal protective equipment, monitoring instruments, site control and decontamination procedures. Emphasis is placed on teamwork. Training participants may be subject to strenuous activity, including the use of Self Contained Breathing Apparatus, air-purifying respirator and full Level A suits to provide chemical protection clothing. Participants must have proper medical clearance and documented respirator fit test.
