Assessment Services
Assessment represents a vital part of organizational planning and development. Some assessments may be quick and quite small while others may be very large and complex. Regardless, it is through the process of assessment that organizations begin to understand what is most valuable to their continued existence and growth. Assessment processes are not all the same. Many assessment service providers utilize off-the-shelf processes and produce soft, graceful results that do not validate or discover the true requirements for greater performance.
Utilizing state-of-art methodologies and interventions Penn College staff customizes the process to match the needs of the client. The greater development of the individual, group, system, organization, or sector is the crux of the process. Through action research (AR) or appreciative inquiry (AI) interventions we tailor strategies to help the client diagnose, understand, and addresses problems; or focus on the positive by understanding strengths, and recommending ways to enhance what is already being done well. Our customized processes have been used to improve the performance of:
- Individuals and small groups (including TABE and DAT)
- Systems and departments
- Entire organizations and companies
- Industry sectors and clusters (see examples)
Typically the assessment process begins with interviews, focus groups, or the use of survey instruments to collect relevant data. Data is then evaluated, quantified, analyzed, and reported in a meaningful manner. Depending on the type of assessment, formal recommendations are prepared to help develop strategic objectives or goals, identify opportunities, determine skill or competency gaps, or implement change.
In some cases, we may be able to provide funding assistance for the assessment process and the training that may develop as a result. Do not underestimate the possibility for positive impacts and organizational growth that may develop as a result of the needs assessment process.
