Depression Awareness Week 2010

Depression among college students is an urgent, yet often misunderstood public health problem. Reports indicate that in the last twenty years, students reporting depression has doubled and the number of suicidal students has tripled on college campuses.

At Penn College, the Depression Awareness Week Committee seeks to educate the College Community about:

  • Signs and symptoms of anxiety, depression, suicide and other mental health illnesses
  • Recognizing when they, or someone close to them, needs help.
  • Helpful resources that are available.

Events give students an opportunity to explore this topic and reach out if they or someone they know is suffering from depression or another mental health illness.

Depression Awareness Week will take place in October 2010

For more information on this week of events, please refer back to this Web site at a later date or contact Student Activities or Student Health Services.
