Friday, September 20

Registration and Information
5-8 p.m., Bush Campus Center, Lobby

Pick up your welcome packet, including useful information about Penn College and the Williamsport community, as well as event listings and other special programs.

Enjoy dinner on your own on campus at Le Jeune Chef Restaurant (for reservations, call 570-320-CHEF) or in Williamsport. Visitor Guides are provided in the packet received at check-in.

Cutting Edge Dueling Pianos
8 p.m., Klump Academic Center, Auditorium

Dueling pianos is a high energy, interactive, sing-a-long show. Anything the audience wants to hear, the players are sure to know; whether its 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, or current, rap, country, or rock and roll.  Anything you can imagine, they can perform.  View a sample performance by Cutting Edge Dueling Pianos.

Performance is generally family-friendly, but may contain mild adult humor or innuendo.

Students who are successful in the first year are more likely to continue their education and complete their degree. Join a panel discussion lead by Penn College faculty, staff, and students to learn the behaviors that are most important for a successful first year. The session will wrap up with a Q&A session where you can ask your unanswered questions about the first year of college.

Mixology Demonstration & Tasting

Students from the School of Business & Hospitality, under the direction of Sommelier Neal Palmer, will amaze your taste buds with their exciting and unique non-alcoholic drinks. Innovative Technologies Applied in the Natural Sciences: Tour the Earth Science Center

Home of our Diesel Technology, Heavy Construction Equipment Technology, On-Site Power Generation, Landscape/Horticulture Technology, and Forest Technology majors, the Earth Science Center is an important part of our academic program. Tour of Outdoor “Learning Labs” and the Penn College Trail System

Take a walk outdoors at the beautiful Earth Science Center to learn all about the Penn College Trail System. Directions are included in your welcome packet. This event is weather dependent. Please arrive early. Tours will depart promptly at noon and 1 p.m.

Penn College in Flight: Tour the Lumley Aviation Centernoon and 1 p.m., Lumley Aviation Center

Located at the Williamsport Regional Airport, Penn College’s Lumley Aviation Center offers some of the finest aviation instructional facilities in the nation for our FAA-approved programs. Victorian House & Garden Tours
noon-4 p.m., Victorian House and Gardens

Tour the Victorian House with a Penn College Presidential Student Ambassador, and enjoy the beautifully landscaped Victorian House gardens.

Intramural Family Challenge
1-4 p.m., Athletic Field near the Field House

Games Include: washers, horseshoes and ladder golf! Stop by and challenge other families to a friendly competition. Ice cream will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.


Around Town

Williamsport Growers’ Market
8 a.m.-1 p.m., Free

Check out the fresh produce and local food items available at the Williamsport Growers’ Market. Each vendor produces at least 80% of the products that they sell. Products in season include vegetables, fruits, meats, cheese, eggs, milk, artisan breads, baked goods, coffee, gourmet canned vegetables, locally produced oil, dog biscuits, soil, pottery, bags and covers, children's clothing, yarns and honey.

Directions from Penn College: From the main entrance, turn left on Maynard Street. Turn right at the light at Third Street. Drive approximately 1 mile and turn left on Hepburn Street. Drive ½ mile and the Grower’s Market will be on the right just before Little League Blvd. Parking is available at Hepburn Plaza.

Williamsport Historic Trolley Tour
10 a.m.-4:15 p.m., Free

Tours leave the Bush Campus Center every hour on the hour and at 15 and 30 minutes past the hour. The last tour departs at 4:15 p.m.

Spend part of your day touring Williamsport’s historic neighborhoods and the downtown area. The tour lasts approximately 45 minutes. Trolleys are accessible to persons in wheelchairs. Seating is limited, so sign up for trolley tours in advance at the Bush Campus Center Information Desk after 5 p.m. on Friday.

Hiawatha River Boat Public Cruise
1, 2:30 & 4 p.m, Hiawatha River Boat Cruise, Adults $7.50, Children ages 3-12 $3.50

Take a ride on Williamsport’s Paddlewheel Riverboat up the scenic Susquehanna River. Tickets for public cruises are available at the Hiawatha House located next to the docks inside the Susquehanna State Park. Also inside the Hiawatha House you will find ice cream, hot dogs, snacks, non alcoholic beverages, postcards and souvenirs. To purchase tickets in advance call (570) 326-2500.

Evening Events

Family & Faculty Picnic
4-7 p.m., Rose Street Commons Courtyard, Free

Come mingle with faculty at a family style barbecue in Rose Street Commons. This is a great opportunity to meet your student’s instructors and learn more about Penn College. Students and their families can also enjoy free olde time photos and airbrush tattoos, while supplies last. Please register for the Family and Faculty Picnic in advance.

Farewell Brunch
