5/18/2006 (11:53pm) - Baja updates and new pictures from Dr. Albert!

5/18/2006 (2:45am) - Ok, so my efforts to keep the webpage updated have been thwarted by things such as 21 credit semesters and oodles of final exams (yes, final exam quantity is measured in oodles). School has been out now for about 10 days, and I'm still here. The baja team has been working double overtime trying to get everything ironed out and perfect for the race, which we leave in 4 days for. These past few weeks have marked the end of a landmark year for PCT SME. We've accomplished more this year than we could've hoped for, and we're trying to make it even better next year. Some interesting tours are planned, and next year's baja car will be able to be started earlier. We're going to try to increase membership next year, too. Any freshmen/sophomores who see this should really consider joining. This club is not run like other campus organizations. We are not a clique and will welcome a new face at any time. The more input we have, the more cool stuff we can do. Joining SME is an AWESOME way to learn some really cool stuff that you aren't going to see in class, and become friends with some great people. On a related note, our advisor, John Upcraft, won ADVISOR OF THE YEAR at this years Student Activities Awards Banquet. His mugshot is posted up in the pictures section. He has been the catalyst to an unprecedented year for our organization, and to put it bluntly, we'd be up the creek without him.  I, personally, can say that I would have gone insane this year with classwork had I not been able to go and work on something that I've become as passionate about as this. SME and Baja have become an enormous part of my life and I hope that the same goes for the others and anyone who has yet to become a part of it. I am sure this year won't be forgotten any time soon...and Baja team, lets put PCT on the map at the competition next weekend!!! Thanks everyone for a great year!    -Zach

3/30/2006 - This Saturday is Open House. SME and Baja need some help for planned activities. Please get in contact with Allen or Chris about helping out. We have kegs of root beer on order, and (root)beer pong will be played. The Baja car will be out in front of the machine shop, outside. Please come down and check everything out, as it's sure to be a good time.            -Zach

3/22/2006 - It's been a month since the last update. The Victaulic trip went great.   A big thanks goes out to them for treating us to a great time, and to Chris Hunter for organizing it. There was also a small trip to High Steel here in Williamsport. I'm going to try to get some pictures from both of those events for the album. Check the baja section for information on the project, because tons have been accomplished. Elections were held at today's meeting for next year's SME officers. Results are as follows: President=Chris Hunter, Vice President=Zach Mazur, Treasurer/Secretary=Tim Senavitis, Student Liaison=Kevin Vanderbeck             -Zach

2/22/2006 - It's been a while since the last update. We've been busy. The rear suspension is designed, the front is near done being built, and our new wheels, which complete the front suspension, should arrive tomorrow. Our parent SME chapter came down to take a look at everything we've done and has decided to become one of our sponsors. There have been a bunch of pictures added, so be sure to check them out. The Victaulic trip went very well, and a thanks goes out to all who attended. This Saturday, the 25th, will be another work day. There's tons more work to do and anyone who could come and help would be appreciated.              -Zach

2/8/2006 - Chris Vincent has provided some JPGs of our solidworks design of the car. They have been posted to the pictures section. This Saturday is a work day for baja. Please attend if you can. If anyone is interested in going on a tour of Victaulic on the 17th, talk to Chris Hunter. The baja car is coming along famously, but we are in need of more help. membership and meeting attendance has dwindled as of late, and anyone who has any interest should stop by the machine shop and talk to John Upcraft, Chris Hunter, or myself.            -Zach

2/1/2006 - Click here to view PCToday's article about R&T Technologies' donation to the Baja project. A full size version of the photo in that article will be posted to the Pictures section shortly. Much was accomplished this past Saturday. Check for changes to the Events section, and watch for the addition of the sponsors section!     -Zach

1/26/2006 - HUGE UPDATE - Pictures are up in the pictures section. Updates will start to happen much more regularly. The Victaulic Trip has been added to the events page. This coming Saturday is going to be a Baja Work Day. There's a ton of stuff to get done, and any help in the shop that can be offered will be appreciated. The SME jackets, for those who purchased them, should be in by the end of February.              -Zach
