Experience the 3rd Dimension

Katherine A Walker, faculty, Drafting & Computer Aided Design, and student assistant Kendra Dutrow

The profession of Computer Aided Drafting and Design has been transforming from a flat 2D approach to one of 3D. Parts can be designed in 3D and printed in 3D too! Design a part using CAD software and learn how rapid prototyping equipment can replicate a physical model of your design.

Computer Sparks: Putting Electricity to Work

Generate computer controlled sparks to make intricate parts that you can take home with you!

Masonry Magic

Glenn Luse, faculty, Building Construction Technology: Masonry

Build a 3D Model of a House & Bridge Building Contest

Geoff Campbell, faculty, Architectural Technology

Using Google Sketchup, build a 3D house model with doors, windows, walls, roof, and finishing materials and create an animation of your house.

Build a bridge out of popsicle sticks and glue. Each team of two students will be given 100 popsicle sticks, one glue gun, and 5 glue sticks. After one hour of building, the bridges will be tested with weights to determine which bridge can carry the largest load without failing.

An Extraordinary View of the Solar System

David Richards, faculty, Physics

Learn about fascinating moons and remarkable worlds that orbit our closest star. This interactive workshop will demonstrate the size of the planets relative to the earth and moon; explain how scientists send spacecraft to other celestial bodies; and examine some of the interesting surface features of these peculiar places.

Construction Management Olympics
