PIN Information

New Students

Once you have submitted your application, you will receive a letter containing your Personal Identification Number (PIN). This letter will be sent to your home address. You may also phone the Admissions Office at (570) 327-4761 if you choose to not wait for the letter.

Receiving a New PIN

If you have misplaced your SIS account information, you can receive a new PIN in one of two ways:

  1. Visit the Registrar's Office, in the Student & Administrative Services Center (SASC), Rm. 1020. Your picture ID will be required in order for the Registrar to issue you a new PIN.
  2. Phone the Registrar's Office at (570) 327-4772 or (800) 367-9222.
PIN vs Network/E-mail password.

Remember that your SIS PIN is different from your network/e-mail password.

  • When you change your PIN, your network/e-mail password does not change; however,
  • You can change your network/e-mail password to be the same as your PIN. You can find information on changing your network/e-mail password on the ITS site of the portal.

SIS Login Help

We have had several students report problems getting into SIS from the Web browser on their home or dorm PC. Some of the problems, and their suggested solutions, are:

  • Peer-to-peer file sharing programs like KaZaa and Gator install programs called Commonname and New.Net, which can cause login problems. Removing these programs should allow you to log in properly to SIS and Penn College e-mail.
    • To remove these programs, use the Add/Remove Programs feature in the Windows Control Panel. Once you have removed any offending program, you will need to restart your computer.
  • Some service providers, such as comcast.net, feed cached pages instead of live pages to ease load time. If you are having problems accessing SIS, clear your local system cache, then close and re-open your browser.
    • In Internet Explorer select 'Tools --> Internet Options --> Delete Files (including offline content)'.
    • In Netscape select 'Edit --> Preferences --> Advanced' and clear both disk and memory cache.
  • SIS may not work in old versions of Internet browsers due to bugs and incompatibilities. We recommend installing the latest version of your Internet browser.
  • PIN vs Network/E-mail password. Remember that your SIS PIN is different from your network/e-mail password.
    • When you change your PIN, your network/e-mail password does not change; however,
    • You can change your network/e-mail password to be the same as your PIN. You can find information on changing your network/e-mail password on the ITS site of the portal.
