Why Enroll
Penn College is an affiliate of The Pennsylvania State University offering bachelor degrees, associate degrees, and certificates in applied technology. Penn College is emerging as the best place in the world to learn avionics. With a million-dollar avionics laboratory and nationally known teachers, it is the first and best choice in avionics education.
Benefits of enrolling in a Aviation Program:
Since the 1930's, aviation-related instruction has been offered at College-owned facilities near the Williamsport Regional Airport. Today, Penn College's 50,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art instructional facility (opened in 1993) is used exclusively for training students interested in careers in aviation and avionics. It also is the sole provider of training for Textron Lycoming, one of the world’s largest providers of aviation-related products and services, and a provider of seminars sponsored by the Experimental Aircraft Association.
The aviation career area is in tremendous need of well-trained technicians as shown by the following:
- "Coupled with the fact that thousands of technicians are close to retiring, the industry may need up to 50,000 new students per year."
– Ric Peri, NATA Manager of Technical Services - "Our annual growth has been 22-25% a year. The only thing that prevents more growth is the lack of trained technicians."
– Richard Skouge, Vice President of Human Resources and Support Services, Duncan Aviation - "It's the best hiring outlook in 35 years... and 3,000 maintenance technicians will be hired per year by carriers [airlines] through 2010."
– Gary Kiteley, Executive Director of the UAA - "Salaries for new technicians start at $28,560, and after seven years, $52,080. This represents a very good rate of pay for a young person with an associate degree."
– James Diffley, Manager of Technical Operations Employment, Delta Airlines
