Automotive Technology: Honda Emphasis
Parkes Automotive Technology Center, Rm. 149 · (570) 320-2400, ext. 7924
Program Information
Pennsylvania College of Technology students have the opportunity work on a variety of projects – not only Honda and Acura vehicles. Honda-specific curriculum and components will be incorporated by each professor, exposing all automotive students (whether or not they have selected the industry-specific major) to Honda automotive systems.
Planning for the Future
The Automotive Technology: Honda program will benefit from a new 12,000 sq. ft. instructional lab, to be completed by Fall 2009. The construction of the lab is part of Penn College's Stage X Building Program.
Automotive Technology: Honda Emphasis students have the opportunity to learn advanced operating theories of automotive systems and components in order to apply automotive operating principles and to diagnose malfunctions in automotive systems.
Course work emphasizes the development of skills in service, repair and test procedures in relation to Honda/Acura vehicles and systems. Specialized service courses prepare students for advancement in Honda/Acura dealerships. The major also prepares students to take written certification exams (e.g., the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence exams), vehicle safety inspection, and Honda/Acura certifications. Specific courses also prepare students for transfer to four-year majors, such as Automotive Technology Management.
