Testimonials
Nashville's famous Opryland Hotel gave alumna Amanda Garman (1996) the opportunity to work on what is believed to be the world's largest interiorscape. With degrees in both Floral Design/Interior Plantscape and Landscape/Nursery Technology, Garman is a certified landscape technician with the Associated Landscape Contractors of America (ALCA). Garman believes the small classes and "one-on-one attention" she received at Penn College were key to her success.
"In the landscape/nursery programs, all of the instructors have not only academic training in the field, but real work experience and a strong desire to pass their interests and acquired information on to students."
"During my decision process, I was impressed with the number of greenhouses and the spacious grounds that are available to students at the Schneebeli Earth Science Center. I believe that a hands-on program is the best preparation for a successful career in the industry, and I could tell that is exactly what Penn College is offering."
"My best impression of the College was how much of a hands-on school it was. Not only did you read and study information, but you also got the true understanding by doing certain areas of the field first-hand. Classes were sized so that you would not be treated like a number. I was very impressed with the fact that I truly was prepared for my job and career after graduation."
"Plant identification, insect and disease identification, labs from my major, I use something from my classes every day. I work with people who have bachelor's and master's degrees. They ask me questions, and I am able to answer because I had hands-on experience at school. The instructors will teach you what you need to know."
"Not only did I receive the technical aspects of this field, but also professionalism and a love for what I do. I believe this program to be the best anywhere!"
"The professors and instructors in the Horticulture program are exceptional examples to their students, and they relay so much valuable information to the students that they have gained through their years of experience. I feel truly blessed to have been a part of Penn College's Landscape Program."
